Sri/Lakshmi is symbolic for the higher self within us. Everyone embodies this Sri, but only a few realize. Whoever realized, their heart is filled with love, and they feel content and fulfilled. They don’t need to do anything for themselves because they are already complete. However, since they have a physical body, they express their love through their actions. Rama is an example of such a fulfilled personality who does what the world needs.

Some individuals are not aware of their higher self. They are not fulfilled or contented. They try to get everything externally, such as material possessions like Bangala, gold, women, diamonds, and more, to feel contented. They conflict with others during this pursuit, creating chaos across the world around. Ravana is an example of such an unfulfilled personality.

The Ramayana is a dramatic tale with two characters symbolic of these extremes and other characters fall somewhere in between these two extremes at various degrees based on their inclination.

The key point to note is that personal transformation starts from within oneself. By expanding one’s consciousness, individuals can discover their higher selves. This process naturally leads to improved thoughts and actions, and, ultimately, brings a change to the physical world. Conversely, trying to fix the external world without focusing on internal growth is illogical.
