Prayer

I remember elders, from various cultures and religions, advising us to pray to God for help before starting any work. As a software engineer, I always look for logic, and since I couldn’t find any in these prayers, I never did them wholeheartedly. To me, those prayers serve as a placebo effect in the best case and not much more.

At the same time, the idea of having someone powerful like God to bless and guide us in day-to-day life feels good, but I never found such a person in reality—only in the stories told by elders. Over years of exploring, I discovered a being within to partner with, though I’m not sure how to explain it to children. I want to find a simple way that’s also complete. While reflecting on this, the following idea came to me, and moments like these fill me with deep love for that inner being(as I believe it is playing a key role in getting such innovative ideas).

Close your eyes. Feel your breath. Breathe in and out as you would when feeling totally relaxed and safe. Now, think about what is absent when a body is dead and what is present when the body is alive. No one knows what this really is, so let’s just call it the “unknown”. It’s certainly there, because we are alive right now. Bow to that “unknown”, feel its presence, and receive its blessings. This same “unknown” brings life to all living beings in the universe. Feel its power, bow your head to it in reverence, and receive its blessings. In truth, there’s no need to specifically ask for help or even to feel like you’re being blessed.

Just remembering it means it’s already given what you need right now. With our mother, we need to ask for things, but with the “unknown,” we need not. It gives and I don't have any means to measure the love it showers on us unconditionally. I personally see it as my eternal lover rather than God, so I can interact freely with it, like with a best friend.

To give you an idea (it is not possible to explain through words), I am trying to put it in more practical terms for a typical human mind to understand. The moment you remember and feel the "unknown" wholeheartedly, your mind instantly shifts to a higher state, your thoughts change, and your perception of the world around you is elevated. You can see this in daily life—you get good thoughts when you’re in a good mood. In the same way, just remembering and feeling the “unknown” elevates your mind and your perception of the world around. Quality of your day to day activities will be peaks in that elevated state.

So, prayer becomes simple: remember and feel the “unknown” wholeheartedly. There’s nothing to ask for, just trust it and do your best.
