It is preference not choice

I am always confused about the choicelessness that spiritual leaders talk about. Some new age leaders say to make a choice and the universe will help you manifest it. Today, I got some clarity—it’s not about choice, but about preference. If my choice isn’t fulfilled, I might get frustrated or make extreme decisions. With preference, there is no issue. I am fine if what I prefer happens, and fine if it doesn’t. It’s simply my preference.
For example, I prefer to be rich so that I have all the resources for whatever I intend to do. My inner energy aligns with this thought, but spiritual leaders say riches are bad. Riches might lead some to bad habits, unnecessary luxury, or strange deeds, but you can't generalize and make being poor a qualification for spiritual seekers. There are people like me who can use riches in the best possible way. We shouldn’t create generic rules, as they suppress the good side of riches along with the bad—just like antibiotics or modern water filters that remove good along with the bad.
This applies to other aspects too—whether it’s enjoying tasty food, wearing nice clothes, friendship with other gender, driving a car, and so on. All these are often labeled bad by spiritual leaders, citing addiction, but there are many positives as well. They can bring new energy, fresh inspiration, and more. Framing generic rules based only on one side is, in my view, a sin. These things are like medicine—used in the right way and right dose, they do wonders.
It is preference not choice.
It’s not riches themselves that corrupt, but how we use them. Wealth can serve the highest intentions when guided by wisdom.
Rigid rules about what’s (like riches) good or bad often block the good with the bad—like a antibiotics or water filter that removes both good and bad.
