If God exists, why do bad things still occur?

The universe challenges us to change, so we may evolve from our narrow perspectives and embrace the empathy that unites us all.
After watching the movie “Maidan,” I noticed that Gajraj Rao’s character portrayed an influential person who could make or break parties, institutions, and more. He always fought for what he believed should be the case and had the power to manipulate and persuade others. It made me wonder how much effort the universe(God), would have to put into changing someone like him.
To transform such individuals, the universe would need to create many situations that challenge their narrow-mindedness and awaken their consciousness. In the content of movie, It introduced a coach who had experienced countless struggles but remained dedicated to the team. This coach’s unwavering determination, even in the face of death, touched the heart of Gajraj Rao’s character, ultimately transforming him into a more compassionate human being.
Until that point, Gajraj Rao’s character was solely driven by his own narrow perspective, unable to empathize with the feelings of others. Similarly, in the movie “Maharaja (Vijay Sethupathi movie),” the universe had to orchestrate a series of devastating events to bring about a change in Anurag Kashyap’s character. These events were so distressing that I found them difficult to digest.
The point I want to convey is that we are the root cause of the adverse events occurring in this world. In order to change ourselves, the universe needs to create situations that expand our limited consciousness. We are stubborn and resistant to change, so the universe must relentlessly challenge us with heinous events to break down our barriers and open our hearts to include everyone around us.
allow Him to work through us
I remember people questioning the existence of God whenever terrible events like mass massacres, earthquakes, wars, and physical abuse occurred. Now, I can understand the pain that God must feel in creating such horrific circumstances in order to bring about a transformation in our hardened hearts.
If we were to change on our own and embrace all beings without boundaries, then difficult situations would no longer be necessary for God to subject us to. In other words, by embracing all beings around us, we eliminate the possibility of bad events occurring. Our conscious actions are changing the world, hinting that God does not exist somewhere else but within us. We simply need to allow Him to work through us.
Additional Notes: When God lives in every person, there can only be one divine being, and the key is to realize Him. Different individuals can come to realize God through various means, depending on their unique personalities. It seems absurd to impose a religion based on birth, as it restricts people from finding their own paths. In fact, this imposition can lead to devolution.
