When we watch a movie, it becomes evident that there is a distinct separation between us and the characters portrayed on the screen. However, despite this separation, we still establish a connection with these characters and experience the emotions they convey. In a sense, we identify with them, momentarily forgetting our own separate existence. But, we can easily regain our sense of self by simply remembering who we are, thus relieving ourselves from the emotions projected by the characters.

The same applies to video games, especially those that involve battles. We become so engrossed in them that we lose sight of our true identity and become one with the character on the screen. We take on all of its challenges as our own, feeling our heart race and perspiration forming. We embrace its pleasures as if they were our own, experiencing a sense of exhilaration as if we were floating in the sky. However, all of this dissipates once the video game stops or we remember our true selves.

Similarly, you exist, and the mind/body is a tool for you to interact with the world around. The mind/body is akin to a character in a video game, and the world is akin to the video game itself. By default, the mind does not recognize you. Instead, it assumes the role of Self, identifies with the body, and interacts with the world from the perspective of that body. As a result, there will inevitably be both favorable and unfavorable events from the perspective of the body it identified with. The proportion of these favorable and unfavorable circumstances, however, varies from person to person, depending on the maturity of their mind.

This ongoing drama continues until the mind ultimately realizes its true self, which is you. Once this realization occurs, it becomes a tool for you to interact with the world around. As far as I know, the only way to be happy all the time is to cultivate the mind to recognize you.
