Security and Spontaneity: Finding Balance in Life

When we prioritize security in life, we may unintentionally sacrifice some of life's spontaneity. This can happen when we try to control or fix every aspect of our lives from the perspective of security, such as education and career choices. While this approach may seem prudent, it can potentially lead us to overlook our inner desires and intuitions.

Mind vs. Heart: Two Sources of Guidance

There is a crucial distinction between listening to the mind and listening to the heart:

The Mind:

Often influenced by societal factors since birth, including upbringing, religion, education, and environment. The mind is a vast archive of your personal history. It encompasses:

  • All the knowledge you've acquired

  • The conditioning you've undergone

  • The experiences you've lived through

  • The thoughts you've entertained

This repository of past information serves as the foundation for future planning. However, such planning often amounts to little more than a reconfiguration of past experiences. While these plans may feature minor adjustments or embellishments, they rarely lead to profound transformation.

The Heart:

Represents the voice of God, manifesting as whispers of the inner voice that have the potential to bring new and innovative thoughts. It may appear risky to the mind, but you can accomplish this with ease when you trust in your inner voice, which is a reflection of God, the unseen, with no form, shape, and religion.

This inner guidance can only be heard when we are attentive. However, there's a high likelihood of missing it because the mind is frequently preoccupied with various thoughts and concerns or mistaking the chatter of the mind as an inner voice.

The Paradox of Securing Life

Striving to secure every aspect of life can paradoxically lead to losing the essence of life itself. While we may live long, we may not necessarily thrive. The more we focus on securing our future, the less room we leave for growth, exploration, and fulfillment.

Finding Equilibrium

The key to a fulfilling life lies in striking a balance between security and spontaneity. By doing so, we create space for both stability and personal growth. As we might say:

"The wise person balances security and spontaneity, and thus thrives while living."
